Principal: ‘An Administrator’ or ‘A Manager’

The Principal is the Chief Executive Officer of the college. As a CEO he/she will be expected to provide a strong leadership role in ensuring the vision for the future, and will be an advocate of the Learning, Living, and Leading philosophy.
The Principal is responsible for the effective administration and management of the College so as to facilitate the achievement of the College’s aims and objectives in relation to its ethos and educational provision.  He/she provide leadership and management for the College and represent the best interests of the College. He/she is responsible for the maintenance of good inter-personal relationships at all levels in the College and contribute in a collaborative managerial approach and the creation of a spirit to co-operation, trust, respect and partnership among the staff, students, parents, University officials and local administration.
The Principal requires considerable time commitment and flexibility.  He must be prepared to be present at all important College functions and to carry out a range of professional duties in accordance with the College’s policies and objectives as determined by the University
College is a complex organization. In a dynamic environment, where different and large number of components interacts, Principal is an authority or a chief executive who manages the college affairs. His job is indeed highly demanding and a challenging one. He has to plan, organize, co-ordinate, command and Control the activities of others, so as to realize the organizational goals He should be the reservoir of certain managerial skills to be successful in his task
A Successful Principal
      A successful Principal is one who adopts different management techniques according to specific and changing circumstances. Since he deals with human beings he must be aware that different people and groups behave differently under different circumstances and human aspect of management presents the greatest challenges to its scientific treatment.

 
Role of the Principal of Our Times
 
        The role of Principal is very vital since they are responsible for creating healthy young minds which are pillars of tomorrow’s world. They are responsible for creating an environment in school that encourages and makes students to learn subjects efficiently and come out with flying colors. They also take the task for finding out special talents of students and for creating a pathway in that direction. For this the principal takes the primary role by getting the latest competition known to students and make them participate in that to bring out their talents. Principals also help the management by budgeting efficiently and by maintaining a safe and healthy environment. Thus the smooth and efficient operation of an educational institution lies in the hands of the captain named as Principal of the educational institution

 
Responsibilities of Principal Performance Responsibilities
·  Principal provides effective leadership in planning, developing, implementing, and administers total institutional facility, climate, and discipline of the College.
· Coordinates the faculty, staff, and students at assigned College.
Organizational Climate
  Promote a college going culture that prepares students for the behavioral expectations of a college campus.
  Demonstrate awareness of College/community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
  Insure student safety and welfare.
  Advance College culture that is aligned to institution’s mission, vision and best practices.
Administration & Fiscal/Facilities Management
  Manage and maintain facilities for College.
  Research and procure grants for expanded student support services,  high quality professional development and other continuous improvement programs.
  Work with higher education partner to negotiate a memorandum of understanding that covers all ongoing financial and in-kind contributions of each organization.
Partnership with Community,Workforce & Industry
·   Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with the University and the UGC.
·   Effectively interpret, communicate and implement district, state and University.
·   Foster feedback and collaboration with workforce partners to support student opportunities.
·   Foster feedback and collaboration with parent and community partners to support the students and College.
·   Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with the Research Institutes and Centre for Advanced Studies.
Continuous Evaluation & Improvement
·        Establish procedures for continuous improvement in alignment with College motto.
·        Develop and implement a College improvement plan.
·        Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and data.
·        Design, implement and maintain a regular student assessment program to track student higher education course success.
·        Evaluate and continuously improve staff and faculty professional development effectiveness.
·        Evaluate and improve instructional program.
·        Review, interpret and use data to understand and improve College and student success
Personal Management & Leadership
·        Clearly communicate expectations to all staff.
·        Model lifelong learning, professionalism and ethics.
·        Provide leadership that fosters professional growth of the staff.

  • Insure development plans and school information has reached the entire audience of potential SEBC students, parents, teachers and University officials.
  • Create complete and fair admissions procedures that target an appropriate student body for and SEBC.
  •  Work with partners to create student activities and opportunities such as clubs, internships, extra-curricular activities, sports, etc.
  • Align and continuously improve instructional programs and student support services with student needs.
